Alleged suicide by student

NEW DELHI: A 21-year-old mass communication student allegedly hanged himself to death at New Friends Colony in South Delhi on Saturday.

The police received a call around 4 p.m. claiming that Rahul, who had been living in a rented accommodation at New Friends Colony, had hanged himself from the ceiling with a bed-sheet.

Enquiries revealed that Rahul, who was from Uttar Pradesh, was pursuing a course in mass communication from a reputed private institute.

No suicide note has been found.

The police are investigating to ascertain what forced the young man to take the extreme step.

Fake holograms;

four arrested

NEW DELHI: Four persons have been arrested on charges of printing and supplying fake holograms of a firm at Bhajanpura in North-East Delhi. Acting on a tip-off that some people were supplying fake holograms of a reputed company, the police mounted a raid and arrested Sonu, Rameshwar Dutt, Megh Singh and Sunil.

In all, 24,000 hologram stickers, 53,200 stickers, a printing press, a zinc plate, and a printing machine were seized.

Fire officer held

NEW DELHI: A sub-inspector with the Delhi Fire Service has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch of the State Government for allegedly demanding Rs. 8,000 as bribe for a fire report.

Rajesh Bahadur Singh, a resident of Paschim Vihar in West Delhi, lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Branch alleging that Beer Singh, a sub-fire officer, was demanding bribe to provide a report about his shop where a fire had broken out on August 22 night.

Acting on the complaint, the Anti-Corruption Branch sleuths laid a trap and allegedly caught Beer Singh red-handed
