CHENNAI: `Crazy' Mohan may be busy working on Kamal Hassan's `Dasavatharam' after his success with producer V. Viswanathan's `Jery,' but his passion for the stage remains undiminished.

And so when he found the demand for newly released DVDs of some of his vintage plays riding a high, he decided to give the audience the original thing.

"I am re-launching some of my classic plays," he says. First on the list is "Meendum Crazy Thieves," which will be staged on September 1 at Narada Gana Sabha at 7 p.m. for Kartik Fine Arts.

The "Crazy" title stuck to R. Mohan after his company's first full-length play "Crazy Thieves in Palavakkam" became a hit.

In 1983, "Meendum Crazy Thieves" recorded 150 shows in less than six months.

With the wave of nostalgia sweeping audiences (witnessed in the tremendous reception to vintage films like "Nadodi Mannan") it was only to be expected that Mohan would be back with his best.

There is enough fun for those watching for the first time considering that it involves cross-cultural scenario and love cutting across religions.
