Kakinada: Zilla Parishad chairman Ch Venugopala Krishna, former MLA Vanamadi Venkateswerarao, Corporation standing committee member Kampara Ramesh and social activist Dusarlapudi Ramana Raju on Monday visited Adikumbheswera swamytemple area along the beach road where over 25 thatched houses of fishermen were destroyed in a fire on Ganesh festival day. They promised assistance, including loans from the BC Corporation and construction of pucca houses. The ZP chairman said that he had already discussed with the Collector and RDO provision of immediate relief to the fire victims besides permanent measures. Former MLA Venkateswerarao said that 55 fishermen families were rendered homeless in the fire. Local MLA Mutha Gopalakrishna visited the place on Sunday evening. He promised the fire victims that construction of pucca houses would be taken up for them and they would be given loans for their rehabilitation.
