HYDERABAD: Tributes were paid here on Monday to three CPI (M) activists --Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Ramakrishna and Balaswami -- who were killed in police firing on August 28, 2000, during the anti-power tariff hike agitation to mark its sixth anniversary.

Leaders of Left parties and activists thronged the `Shaheed Chowk' at Basheerbagh where the police fired at the Left activists agitating against the power tariff increase during the TDP regime six years ago.

B.V.Raghavulu, CPI (M) State secretary, P.Madhu, S.Sudhakar Reddy, MPs, N. Narasimhaiah, CPI(M) floor leader in the Assembly, and some others addressed the meeting.
