HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday ordered status quo to be maintained with regard to the alienation of the land in Kokapet village that was auctioned by HUDA recently. The Bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by one Ali. He contended that he was the real owner of the land and HUDA and the Government cannot resort to auction and sell it off. The petitioner said that his contention was not properly appreciated by the Single Judge. The case of the petitioner was that during the time of the Nizams he had got the rights over this land and was given `Muntakam'. The revenue authorities had cancelled this Muntakam without following the due process of law, and questioning this, he was fighting a case in the High Court. He wondered as to how the land could be auctioned by the authorities when the case was pending. He wanted all the monies collected by the HUDA to be deposited in the court. The bench permitted receiving of the money but ordered status quo in the matter.
15 plots auctioned
HUDA auctioned 15 plots of land in Golden Mile layout at Kokapet and netted Rs.703 crores. The bidders have so far paid Rs. 435 crores to HUDA and the time limit for full payment has been extended by HUDA up to September30. The city-based Kailash Ganga Constructions had bid Rs.14.5 crores per acre for a five-acre plot which became the highest among the 15 plots put up for auction that day. The reputed names in real estate and hotel groups like Prestige Gardens Estate Group from Bangalore, Today from Delhi, My Home Constructions Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad, Lake Point Builders, Mumbai, Madhucon Properties, Pioneer Telafone Ltd. of Viceroy group, IBC Knowledge Park, Bangalore, were among other successful bidders.
