Residents stage dharna
Staff Reporter
Bangalore:
Social Amenities Association, an Indiranagar-based residents' welfare organisation, held a dharna here on Saturday against a skywalk that is under construction at the junction of 100 ft Road and 17th Main of Indiranagar.
In a press release issued by the association, Lakshman Raju, secretary, said the skywalk did not serve any practical purpose and spoiled the aesthetics of the surroundings.
The association had written to Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) Commissioner K. Jairaj on the issue, the release added.
Vantage Advertising, the advertising agency that had taken a contract from BMP to build six skywalks in the city, is building the skywalk.
At present, there are four skywalks in the city, at Airport Road, near Jayanagar bus stop, Residency Road, and C.V. Raman Road.
Two more skywalks are to come up at the Christ College bus stand and the Silk Board Junction.
