Toyota launches technical training programme

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Students of the Mohanmull Chordia Jain Industrial Training Centre will undergo the Toyota Technical Education Programme (T-TEP), launched here on Monday.

Speaking at the launch, Toyota Motor Company General Manager Matsunami said the initiative was aimed at providing career opportunities to students around the world.

He said Toyota had been offering training programmes for the last 15 years in about 50 countries.

"Over 18,000 graduates have joined the Toyota network after undergoing the training programme," he added.

He said the rapid expansion of Toyota globally had increased the demand for local talent. Toyota introduced the programme in 1990, as a human resource development initiative. "Since then, the programmes have enabled students to take up responsible positions in the automobile industry," said deputy managing director Toyota Kirloskar Motor S. Tomonaga.

Deputy chairman State Planning Commission M. Naganathan said Tamil Nadu was known for its diversified industrial development since the sixties. He said the State was emerging as one of the major automobile centres in the country, which offered plentiful job opportunities for trained technicians.
