Bangalore: "Manipal Foundation is synonymous with public service, and works closely with other non-profit organisations to build health care networks for the betterment of society through a corpus fund that has been created," said D.A. Prasanna.

He was addressing a gathering at the Manipal Foundation-Kadambi scholarship awards ceremony here on Tuesday.

Endowment fund

The second annual scholarship award instituted by the Kadambi family is an endowment fund from which scholarships of Rs. 30,000 each are given to two students of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) for excellence in sports (with the exception of cricket) at the State or national level every year. Manipal Foundation manages the scholarship on behalf of MAHE.

The recipients of the awards were Pankaj Nagori of the Kasturba Medical College (Manipal) and Aeshwarya Raj Singh of the Manipal Institute of Technology.

"MAHE has achieved a reputation of excellence in the field of higher education," said Rajagopal Kadambi, managing trustee of Kadambi Foundation. He said that through these scholarships, they aim to encourage such talent and help achieve their dreams.

"The scholarships give incentives in the field of health, science and technology and extracurricular activities," said H.S. Ballal, Pro-Chancellor, MAHE.

He further added that MAHE had always recognised meritorious students and awarded them with scholarships.

This initiative taken up by the Kadambi family would benefit the students in their further studies and would help in shaping their future, he said.
