To prepare action plan for the industry

Kozhikode: As part of its efforts to implement programmes of the Ministry of Food Processing, the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) will organise a workshop in association with the Malabar Chamber of Commerce in the city on September 2.

Industries Minister Elamaram Karim and Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, P.I. Suvrathan will speak at the programme to be held at Taj Residency.

It will be an attempt to prepare an action plan for the food processing industry in the State in the context of the Vision 2015 document of the Union Government.

There will be a session to discuss the proposed agro food processing park in Wayanad. Kinfra is taking the initiative to organise the workshop, as it is the nodal agency in the State for implementing the schemes of the Ministry of Food Processing.

The workshop is also an attempt to bring together all policymakers and stakeholders in the sector for a meaningful interactive session.

The session on the food processing park in Wayanad will discuss the need for developing infrastructure support for boosting the growth of agriculture and food processing industries in the region, A.S. Suresh Babu, managing director, Kinfra, said in Kozhikode on Tuesday.
