Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: SPIC-TNCA starts favourite against Combined Districts in the final of the Mindteck-Buchi Babu cricket tournament to be played at the ICL-Gurunanak ground here from Wednesday.

SPIC-TNCA stuck to script and completed a comfortable win in the semifinals. Skipper S. Badrinath, left-hander Hemang Badani, and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik scored centuries against Andhra, while C. Suresh, S. Vidyut and R. Ashwin were among the wickets.

Combined Districts, meanwhile, squeaked through by four runs in the other semifinal. Fast-medium bowler R. Jesuraj triggered the Gujarat collapse in the second-innings with a five-wicket haul. Captain and all-rounder R. Sathish made 50, and claimed five in the first innings. E. Suresh was in fine form, scoring a 138-ball 72 and a 93-ball 101 in the match.
