ONGOLE: Andhra Pradesh Public Health and Medical Employees Union members staged a dharna near Prakasam Bhavan here on Tuesday urging the Government to fulfil their demands immediately. The protesters said that the Government had invited their leaders for talks on February 13 and had agreed to fulfil their demands. But it did not do anything till now. They wanted promotions for women health workers on par with men workers. The Government should fill 3,500 posts immediately as the Cabinet had already accepted to it. While filling posts, contract medical staff should be regularised giving 45 marks as weightage without any written test as was being done for doctors and staff nurses. The union gave `Chalo Hyderabad' call on August 31 to achieve their demands.
