PSG College of Arts and Science (Coimbatore) got past Gobi Arts College (Gobichettipalayam) 14-4 in its opening fixture of the Bharathiar University inter collegiate kho-kho tournament for women at the Navarasam Arts and Science College campus here on Monday. Earlier, KMC scored a narrow 6-5 win over Dr. SNS Rajalakshmi College, while Vellalar drubbed Parks College 24-0. Easy for BUD
Host Bharathiar University Department (BUD), thanks to S. Karthik's double strike, blanked Sri Krishna College of Arts and Science 3-0 in the Bharathiar University inter collegiate inter-zone football tournament for men here on Tuesday. N. Basketball tournament
The Nilgiris District Basketball Association will organise the second State-level invitation basketball tournament in Udhagamandalam from August 31 to September 3. Twelve teams in the men's section and six in the women have confirmed participation for the four-day tournament.
Sethuraman triumphs
At Tiruchi, G. Sethuraman of Bishop Heber College, with 6.5 points from the maximum seven rounds, won the title at the Bharathidasan University inter-collegiate chess tournament conducted by the Urumu Dhanalakshmi College here on Tuesday. K. Vasudevan of the AVC College with six points finished runner up by tallying six points, while the third place went to Zubin Thomas of Kurinji College who got 5.5 points. A. Sheik Dawood of H.H. Rajah's College, Pudukottai (5.5), R. Akbar Ali (5) and S. Thanigaivel (5), both of Jamal Mohamed College, finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
