Sourashtra College retains title

MADURAI: Sourashtra College retained the Alagappa Chettiar Trophy for the fifth successive year defeating arch-rival MSS Wakf Board College 85-80 in the Madurai Kamaraj University Champion Trophy inter-collegiate basketball tournament at the University indoor stadium here on Tuesday. MSS WBC finished runner-up.

St. Xavier's in last eight

St. Xavier's HSS, Palayamkottai entered the quarterfinals of the sixth Kalimark K.P. Rajendran-Jayalakshmi trophy State-level inter-school basketball tournament defeating host Idayam Rajendran Residential MHSS `B' 58-38 here on Tuesday.

Rajasekaran triumphs

P. Rajasekaran of VOC College won the title in the college boys' category in the ninth district-level Pearl City trophy invitation chess tournament for college/school students organised by Pearl City Chess Association at Tuticorin on Sunday. His college mate P. Dhanaraj finished runner-up.

M. Perumal of Saraswathy Narayanan College clinched gold in the boys' above - 17 category in Kata in the fifth annual district-level Karate competitions organised by Madurai District Sports Karate - DO Association at Sethupathy HSS, Madurai, on Sunday.
