Srikakulam : Government Orders (GOs) sanctioning money for temporary repairs and restoration of works damaged in the recent floods in Srikakulam district were issued. According to the district revenue officer B. Yadgiri, Rs.11.24 crore was sanctioned for undertaking repairs to works of the Roads and Buildings department. Similarly Rs.4.40 crore was sanctioned for repairs to Panchayat Raj roads and buildings. It may be mentioned roads network in the district had suffered extensive damage in the two floods in the months of July and August.
For the agriculture sector, Rs.5.27 crore was sanctioned for extending input subsidy to the affected farmers. For damaged crops like paddy, groundnut, cotton, sugarcane the assistance would be Rs.1,850 per hectare.
The Government had already released Rs.20 crore for flood relief works.
The above would be in addition to the releases already made.
It may be recalled the district administration, after assessing damages to various sectors, had sought Rs.200 crore for undertaking permanent repairs.
