Addressing an award-giving function organised by the Rajahmundry Press Club on Tuesday here for Best Reporter, Photographer and Videographer for first time, he said objectivity was the life of journalism and the journalists in the country were enjoying independent free press, which was not possible in many countries.
Mr. Sasidhar said the competition in the media should not lead to crossing limits. He said that journalists should update their knowledge and skills as the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) was coming into print and electronic media to give tough competition to existing newspaper giants.
District Public Relations Officer K. Jayarao said that encouraging the talent of budding journalists was the need of the hour. B. Srinivas, president, and Y. Ganesh, secretary, K. Raju, treasurer, spoke on the occasion. Awards were given on the eve of Independence Day.
The Best Report Award was given to T. Venkatrao (Eenadu) for his news story on missing crime cases, Best Photographer Award to A. Saratkumar for his `Cat Nap' photo and Ch. Chaitanya for his video clipping on `Sankranti Sambaralu' telecasted in Teja TV.
