NIZAMABAD: The bandh call given by the Nizamabad district unit of the Telugu Desam Party to protest against the killing of the party's MPTC member P. Sai Reddy passed peacefully on Tuesday. The party's MPTC member and former Minister Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy's brother-in-law P. Sai Reddy (50) was axed to death allegedly by his political rivals in his native Ibrahimpet village of Banswada mandal on Monday night. Condemning the brutal killing, the leaders took out rallies and forcibly downed the shutters of all business establishments, educational institutions, cinema halls, petrol filling stations, etc. in entire district. The bandh had its total impact in the Banswada mandal. The protesters hoisted black flags at all the important junctions.They stopped buses at bus stations. Incidents of stone-pelting at buses was reported in various parts of the district. The protesters also staged a `rail-roko' at the Nizamabad railway station and detained the inter-city train for half-an-hour raising slogans against the State Government for the `killing' opposition leaders.

Later, a delegation led by former Minister Mandava Venkateshwara Rao and others submitted a memorandum to Superintendent of Police Mahesh Chandra Ladha and urged police officials to take appropriate measures to stop killing of opposition leaders.
