TIRUCHI: The Karnataka Government will introduce a new educational policy from the next academic year with a thrust on agriculture, said Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy here on Tuesday.

Talking to presspersons at the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy temple, he said the new curriculum would be introduced from standard V. The syllabus would be decided after a meeting of officials and Heads of Departments.

Mr. Kumaraswamy said formation of `Greater Bangalore', by merging seven City Municipal Corporations (CMPs) and a Town Panchayat was aimed at developing the city. When his attention was drawn to the 40 projects worth Rs. 62,864 crore approved by the State High-Level Clearance Committee, he said these would be implemented from November.

Mr. Kumaraswamy along with his father H.D. Deve Gowda and other family members offered prayers to lord Ranganathaswamy and His Consort, Sri Thaayar.

Earlier, Mr. Deve Gowda andMr. Kumaraswamy, offered prayers at the Sri Bhoovaraga Swamy Temple at Sri Mushnam in Cuddalore.
