Woman, daughter found dead

THRISSUR: A woman and her daughter were found dead in a pond near their house at Nattika around Monday midnight.

The police said the dead were Puthenveettil Radhamma, 60, wife of the late Irikkali Prabhakaran, and Rajeswari, 30.

Jayasree, 28, another daughter, who was rescued by her uncle and neighbours while trying to jump into the pond, has been admitted to the district hospital.

The police said that according to preliminary information, Jayasree wanted to kill herself after taking the lives of her mother and sister because of financial difficulties and ailments the family members had.

The police said that according to reports, the uncle rushed to the pond on hearing screams and saw Jayasree trying to jump into the water with roof tiles tied on her body.

She had reportedly told him that she had killed the other two and wanted to kill herself.

On hearing his cry for help, the neighbours rushed to the pond and rescued Jayasree.
