ARA (Bihar): People protesting the killing of three brothers, allegedly in a fake gun battle with police, on Tuesday disrupted the movement of trains in Bihar's Bhojpur district for over three hours, railway officials said. The people squatted on tracks at Karisat railway station under Danapur division from 8 am to 11.15 am to protest the killing of the brothers, who allegedly had criminal antecedents, on August 25 at Nawada Ben village, they said. Superintendent of Police Umesh Kumar said police carried out a ``mild lathicharge'' to clear the tracks. The protestors alleged the three men -- Ram, Laxman and Bharat -- were killed by police and firearms kept at the place to make it look like they were involved in a shootout. The protesters alleged the killings were carried out at the directive of an MLA of the ruling JD-U. They demanded the registration of murder cases against the police team led by DSP S S Thakur that was involved in the incident and their immediate arrest, apart from compensation of Rs.5 lakh to the dependents of each brother. The protests affected the Ara-Buxar section of the East-Central Railway. Sources at Danapur Divisional Headquarters said the Delhi-Patna Vikramshila Express, Kurla- Patna Express, Delhi-Patna Magadh Express, Ernakulam-Patna Express and Delhi-Sealdah Janata Express trains had to be detained at Karisat, Bihiya, Raghunathpur, Dumraon and Bihta railway stations respectively. - PTI
