On `Grievances Day' officials sanction aid on the spot

  • Collector had warned officials against staying away from the event
  • House sanctioned to a physically challenged person
  • Farmers urged not to sink borewells beyond their financial capacity

ANANTAPUR: The revival of `Grievances Day' last Monday, with all district officers participating, has instilled confidence among the public.

The district Collector had cautioned the officers against abstaining and so all the officers were present to listen to the grievances. Most of complainants returned home with their problems redressed on the spot.

Tri-cycles were handed over to some physically challenged persons on the spot. Sanction letters for houses too were given away.

Those who raised issues on gram panchayat election results were asked to move the courts as they would not come under the purview of the assembly. The Collector also suggested the farmers not to go for borewells beyond their financial means. Several farmers approached him for help after they incurred huge losses by sinking large number of borewells, he said.

    Self-employment

The wives of two farmers -- B. Nagappa of Lachanipalli in Gooty mandal and M. Chennappa of Ravulacheruvu in Dharmavaram mandal -- were sanctioned assistance under IKP for self-employment, as the two farmers had suffered losses after sinking borewells. The Collector sanctioned a house under Indira Awas Yojana to a physically challenged person from Palacherla in Rapthadu mandal, G. Raghunatha Reddy, whose house collapsed in the rains last year.

He told the Collector he had already submitted 10 representations in this regard. Shiva (13) of Guntakal, who had lost both his hands when he suffered electric shock recently, and M. Muthyala Reddy of Ayyavaripalli, whose lost both his legs two years ago, too were given assistance.
