`Funds being wasted on needless programmes'
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
Karnataka Abhivrudhi Vedike chairman Patil Puttappa has criticised Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa for going about the task of promoting Kannada and culture "in the wrong way" and wasting a lot of funds and resources on needless programmes.
Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, he said holding the Vishwa Kannada Sammelan in Belgaum was nothing but trying to gain political mileage out of a ticklish issue instead of trying to solve the festering border dispute with Maharashtra, he said.
Karnataka ranked first in those hankering to go on foreign trips. Even litterateurs who had been decorated with prestigious awards were not above such petty ambitions, and this was coming in the way of true development of Kannada, he added.
