Commodity prices

The following were the rates (Rs. per kg) of essential commodities in local wholesale market on Wednesday, according to the Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Groundnut oil - 58, Palmolein oil - 47.25, Sunflower oil - 55, Tamarind (flower variety) 35 to 39, Chillies - 49 to 54, Rice (2716) -14, Rice (superfine) - 15, Rice (sona masoori) - 18 to 19, Rice (samba masoori) - 16, Black gram - 46, Red gram - 24 to 31.

Centenary fete

Dr. K.B. Krishna centenary celebrations will be held all over the State. Memorial meetings will be held at Inturu in Guntur district on August 31, in Vijayawada on September 9, at Vizag on September 17 and at Hyderabad on September 24, according to celebrations panel general secretary C. Narasimha Rao.
