CHENNAI: Eminent personalities from different fields were conferred with Rajiv Gandhi/ G.K.Moopanar Award at a function here on Tuesday. Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation G. K.Vasan, who handed over the awards, said the country owed much to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi as it was he who laid the foundation for the country's information technology revolution. His vision was to make the country a super power. His dreams were being realised by the Central Government led by the Congress, Mr. Vasan said. Eye specialist Amar Agarwal, poets Vaali and Ravibharathi, Sister Dominic Mary, Tamil scholar Sudha Seshaiyan, dancer Sudharani Raghupathi, sculptor Mani Nagappa, percussionist A.K.Palanivel and director Sundar K.Vijayan were the recipients.
