Woman's body found

A woman M. Prabhavati, 40, who went missing three days ago, was found murdered with her body stuffed in a gunny bag in Medchal on Tuesday. Medchal Inspector Syed Rafeeq said needle of suspicion pointed towards the victim's elder brother Shankar Reddy with who she had a long pending land dispute. Reddy is absconding. A divorcee, the woman was living with her 20-year-old son at Puduru of Medchal. On Saturday last, she left her house saying she was going to local mandal revenue office. She was not seen since then. Police believe she was throttled to death and that more than two persons were involved in the killing.

Held on rape charge

The Kukatpally police on Tuesday arrested a labourer Shabbir, 50, who allegedly raped his neighbour's four-year-old daughter at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar of Borabanda two days ago. Shabbir lured the girl into his house by offering some snacks and sexually assaulted her on Sunday. When the girl's angry family members attacked him, he brokered a compromise with them promising to pay some money, the Kukatpally police said. Tipped off about the incident by a local, police conducted inquiry and arrested Shabbir.

Succumbs to injuries

A labourer Rajalingam, 65, who was hit from behind by a car while he was walking on the road near Uppal on Monday, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Gandhi hospital. He was a resident of Hanuman Sai Nagar.
