Thiruvananthapuram: The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has postponed the interview to the post of Lower Division Clerk/Sub-Group Officers till further notice following Tuesday's agitation by the activists of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) alleging corruption in the recruitment process. The march, led by DYFI State president Sreeramakrishnan, turned violent when it was blocked in front of the TDB headquarters, near Devaswom Board Junction, by the TDB security personnel. In the melee, five DYFI activists and a security personnel sustained injuries. The injured were shifted to General Hospital. Later, the DYFI activists entered the TDB's headquarters building and began a sit-in near the boardroom demanding postponement of the interview. The stir was withdrawn following talks with TDB president G. Raman Nair. The interview to the posts, which began on August 21, was postponed till further notice, said the TDB secretary in a release.
DYFI demand
The DYFI State committee demanded that recruitment to all posts, except those directly connected to temples, in the TDB should be handed over to the Public Service Commission. It urged the Government to bring legislation in the next session of the Assembly to this effect. Several complaints were raised about the conduct of the examination to various posts, said the DYFI Secretariat at its meeting here.
