`Renovation at Samathuvapurams to be over'

348 free colour television sets to be distributed at a Government function

NAMAKKAL: Renovation and repair works in the four Samathuvapurams in the district will be completed in two days, said Collector G. Sundaramurthi.

Inspecting the Samathuvapurams at Athanur, Kunnamalai, Sirumolasi and M. Mettupatti on Wednesday, the Collector said the district administration had taken up the works at Rs. 40.50 lakh. Facilities such as roads, drinking water, toilets and streetlights in Samathuvapurams were being improved.

Children's parks

The district administration was also establishing children's parks. All the houses would receive a fresh coat of paint, he said. The Collector asked the officials to expedite renovation works. Earlier, Mr. Sundaramurthi inspected the free colour television sets stored in the self-help group building in Moolakadu.

The district administration had received 348 free colour television sets.

Completion

After the completion of renovation and repair works, the district administration would provide 90 colour TVs to the beneficiaries in M. Mettupatti Samathuvapuram; 81 to those in Athanur; 79 in Kunnamalai and 98 in Sirumolasi.

The TVs would be distributed at a Government function on September 15, he said.

Project Officer of District Rural Development Agency Renuga Devi and senior revenue officials accompanied the Collector.
