GULBARGA: The Government has decided to extend the payment of the interim relief of Rs. 200 a month to headmasters of all government schools and physical education teachers with immediate effect, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti has said. Directives had been issued to the Finance department for granting immediate approval, he said. Mr. Horatti said at a press conference here on Wednesday that owing to the objections raised by the Finance department, headmasters and physical education teachers, who were also teaching staff, had been denied the interim relief that was introduced in April. Following representations, Mr. Horatti said he had taken up the issue and convinced the Finance department that headmasters and physical education teachers fell under the category of teaching staff and hence should be extended interim relief. Orders for payment of interim relief would be issued shortly, he said. Mr. Horatti said the Mahiti Sindhu Computer Education Programme could not be continued this year owing to a High Court stay on a petition filed by a few persons from Mangalore.
