One arrested for robbery, snatching
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) Anil Shukla, after the arrest of one Raju Sansi in connection with snatching cases in June, another gang member, Raju Ganja, was arrested in Mumbai. Investigations revealed that Raju Ganja's elder brother Murari had taken over as the gang leaderand was committing snatchings along with his accomplices, some of whom were identified as Prakash, Mahender, Kailash and Rajender. A Special Staff team led by Inspector Rajender Singh was asked to track down the culprits. On Tuesday, the police received a tip-off that Murari would come to Jaitpur in Sarita Vihar on a scooter. Subsequently, a trap was laid and the accused he was arrested.
`Criminal' held
The accused, Harender Singh, was moving in a Santro car when a team under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Rishi Pal intercepted it and overpowered him on Tuesday. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to his involvement in a robbery at Khurja in Uttar Pradesh in which Rs. 30 lakhs were stolen from the van ferrying money to a bank.
DDA staffer nabbed
The Anti-Corruption Branch received a complaint from Dilip Kumar alleging that Dhirender Verma, a section officer with the DDA, was demanding money to allow him to stay in a pump house inside a DDA park at Mayur Vihar. Subsequently a trap was laid and the accused was allegedly caught red-handed while receiving the bribe amount.
RI for rape bid
Ramesh allegedly made two attempts to rape his daughter on July 3, 2004 and August 31, 2004.
Building caves in
According to the police, the three-storey building collapsed around 12-30 p.m. At least four fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The rescue team did not find anyone trapped under the debris.
