dated September 1, 1956: Rail line to Kottayam

The 37-mile Ernakulam-Kottayam sector of the Ernakulam-Quilon railway line will be open for traffic by October 1956. Giving this information to pressmen in Madras on August 30, Mr. K. Srinivasan, PRO, Southern Railway, said all the bridges, 193 in number, the station buildings and staff quarters had been completed. He indicated that the entire line from Ernakulam to Quilon would be completed by 1957.
