HUBLI: Five persons from various fields, including K.M.P. Suresh, consultant in Child Neurology and Epilepsy, and president of Anjuman-e-Islam Abdul Nazirsab Gadagakar, were felicitated here on Thursday as part of the 11-day Ganeshotsava. The others who were felicitated by Sri Gurusiddha Rajayogindra Swamiji of Moorusavir Math were contractor V.S.V. Prasad, merchant Jitendra Majeevaya and social activist Shivarudrappa Akki. Hubli Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Samitigal Mahamandal organised the programme. The swamiji also felicitated idol makers Raghavendra Murugod, Ashok Belligatti, S.H. Pattar, S.B. Hittale, Iranna Paled, Chidanand Teggihalli, Anilkumar Kavishetti and Anand Mulimani. The swamiji said celebrating Ganeshotsava as a public event contributed to promoting patriotism and universal brotherhood. Former Minister P.C. Siddanagoudar said the Ganesha festival rejuvenated the spirit of human life. Commending the active interest taken by the youth in the celebrations, he called upon elders to guide the youth.
Awards
Several prizes were also awarded to various Ganesha Mandals. The prizes were given to best Ganesha idols, for electrical decoration, best stage setting and cultural programmes.
