Pondicherry
Special Correspondent
Pondicherry: The Pondicherry health department has launched a master health check up scheme for all Members of Parliament (elected from Pondicherry) and Members of the Legislative Assembly here. Announcing this in the Assembly on Thursday, the Health Minister, E. Valsaraj, said the elected representatives were the hopes and aspirations of the people at large. It was the duty of the Government to foster their health.
Health profile
The scheme was aimed at maintaining an up to-date record of the health profile of the MPs and MLAs. The programme would be implemented in the next three months and an index of vital health indicators would be clearly recorded after necessary investigations by specialists of the Indira Gandhi General Hospital and Post Graduate Institute here. Each of the MPs and MLAs would be issued copies of their respective health record maintained by the Medical Superintendent here and by the office of the Deputy Directors of Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam regions for their respective MLAs. The record would be a comprehensive document covering and focusing the investigations done and also the medical advice and medications if any prescribed for the members. The Public Relations Officer of the Health Department would contact each of the MPs and MLAs and fix a date and time convenient to them for the comprehensive health check up. Mr. Valsaraj said it was his earnest endeavour to enable people's representatives to continue to serve the people.
