Dhaka: The Bangladesh High Court on Thursday upheld the death penalty of Jama'tul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) kingpins for the killing of two judges last year. Seven top leaders of the banned Islamist outfit including its chief Shaikh Abdur Rahman and second-in-command Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai were sentenced to death. The specially designated bench with Justice M Ali Asgar Khan and Justice Emdadul Haque delivered the judgement in the death reference case. The case was quickened following a request from the Government which, after denying the presence of the militancy for several years, wants to crush it. The two judges were killed in a suicide bomb attack in Jhalakati town last year .
