New Delhi: Chemical and petroleum engineers along with several experts from across the country will gather here in the Capital to discuss green fuel technologies and environment safety aspects in the oil and gas industry during a two-day convention beginning this Saturday. The convention is being organised by the Delhi State Centre of Institution of Engineers (India). According to Convention Chairman R. K. Bagrodia, the two-day meeting will provide an opportunity to chemical and petrochemical engineers, experts, Government officials dealing with petroleum and petrochemical issues as well as manufacturers of petrochemical products and equipment, academicians, scientists and research scholars to present and exchange their views on this important subject. To be inaugurated by former Defence Minister K. C. Pant, the convention will see delegates deliberating on the state of present-day petroleum and petrochemical industries in the country and the latest advances going on in them. There will be a special emphasis on the course that technology in these industries is likely to take in the next 15 years. The role of the chemical industry to enable the country in achieving its objective of becoming a developed nation by the year 2020 will also be discussed.
