CHANDIGARH: Kurukshetra and adjoining areas having a connection with the Mahabharata era are to be developed as a world heritage site, according to Haryana Governor A. R. Kidwai. Presiding over a meeting of the Kurukshetra Development Board here, Dr. Kidwai, who is the Board Chairman, said that pilgrimage areas falling within 48 kos of the holy city would be included. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Finance Minister Birender Singh, Revenue Minister Ajay Singh Yadav, Urban Development Minister Savitri Jindal, and senior officials. Dr. Kidwai disclosed that Union Tourism Minister Ambika Soni had promised to visit Kurukshetra with a team of experts to explore the possibility of developing it as a world tourist hub.
