CHENNAI : The City Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested Kamlesh Kumar (54) of Vadapalani, who had allegedly taken Rs 8.03 lakh from seven persons, under the pretext of getting lucrative teacher jobs in government run schools. Investigating officers said here on Wednesday that the accused lured young unemployed graduates by claiming that he had influence in the Education department and knew many senior officials in the Teacher Recruitment Board. Based on a complaint received from Sivappan of Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district, police interrogated Kumar. He confessed to having received Rs 1.30 lakh cash in 2002, but failed to find jobs for his clients. Despite repeated pleas, Kumar did not return the money. He was arrested on charges of cheating and remanded to custody.
