CHENNAI: Vijai Sundar Prasanth of Loyola College (Chennai) won a double in tennis at the Bertram Memorial Tournaments, organised by the Loyola College, here on Thursday. Vijai defeated college-mate Vikram Adithya Manon 6-4, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 to win the Stanley Cup for tennis (singles). Vikram broke Vijai's serve early in the first set, but the latter fought back well to level the scores at 2-2. From then on, Vijai held the upper hand and broke Vikram's serve once again to take the first set. Vijai played some good backhand shots and also served well, while Vikram committed a lot of unforced errors and lost the second set cheaply. Vikram was quite impressive in the third set and got his rhythm back. Down 4-5, he kept a cool head to break Vijai's serve twice to win the set. Vijai came back well to outplay Vikram in the fourth and cruised to victory. In doubles, Vijai and Vikram teamed up to defeat Hari Prasad and Siddarth Hande (Loyola) 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 and won the Erskine Cup for tennis (doubles). Loyola College emerged overall champions and defended the Ethuraj Trophy successfully. Rev. Fr. B. Jayaraj, Rector, Loyola College gave away the prizes. The results: Tennis (final): Singles: Vijai Sundar Prasanth bt Vikram Adithya Manon 6-4, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2. Doubles: Vijai Sundar Prasanth and Vikram Adithya Manon bt Hari Prasad and Siddharth Hande 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.
