NEW DELHI: Injured midfielder S. Venkatesh will miss India's away match against Saudi Arabia in the AFC Asian Cup qualifier to be played at Riyadh on September 6. Venkatesh was part of the team that lost to Saudi Arabia 3-0 at home in Kolkata on August 16. India, which fielded a 22-member team here, is however, taking a 20-member team to Saudi Arabia. Habib-ur-Rehman and Bibiano Fernandes did not make the grade as did Alvito D'Cunah. Salgaocar's Micky Fernandes came in place of Venkatesh while S. Rahim Nabi replaced D'Cunah. The team leaves on September 3. The team: Goalkeepers: Sandip Nandy, Subrata Paul, Subhasis Roy Chaudhary. Defenders: Surukumar Singh, N.S. Manju, Deepak Mondal, Samir Naik, Anupam Sarkar, Narinder Singh, N.P. Pradeep, Sanjiv Maria. Midfielders: Steven Dias, Mehrajuddin Wadoo, Manjit Singh, P. Renedy Singh, Micky Fernandes. Forwards: S. Rahim Nabi, Fredy Mascarnhas, Sunil Chhetri, Bhaichung Bhutia. Officials: Bob Houghton (chief coach), Alfonso Maricio Milagres (assistant coach), Antonio Marcos Pacheco (goalkeeping coach).
