MAHABUBNAGAR: Devotion and fervour marked the immersion procession of Ganesha idols in Mahabubnagar on Thursday evening. Various youth associations brought out their Vinayaka idols of different sizes and shapes installed in specially decorated pandals on Sunday for immersion in colourfully decked vehicles. The Ganesh Utsav Samithi, Palamur set up a special dais at the Clock Tower centre to monitor and regulate the stream of Ganesha idols belonging to various youth organizations. The huge Ganesha idols were being taken to Beechpally near Pebbair about 70 kms from here for immersion in the river Krishna. The more wieldy ones are being taken to the Hanwada tank. Police have made elaborated bandobast arrangements to ensure peaceful immersion.
250 idols in Kurnool town
Meanwhile, the Ganesh immersion at Nandyal and Adoni towns in Kurnool district had passed off peacefully on Thursday. At Nandyal, Municipal Chairman K. Ramudu and Vice-Chairman Gangisetty Vijayakumar formally flagged off the procession at Gandhi Chowk. A total of 250 idols were installed at different places in the town. The procession proceeded to Chinna Cheruvu.
