KOZHIKODE : The Kerala B.Sc. Nursing Students Association formed an action council to organise agitations to protest against the delay in fixing internship for nursing students and press for conducting university examinations on a war footing. According to action council convener Shabeem P., the ambiguity surrounding the proposed internship to be started from this year in Government nursing colleges put the students as well their parents in difficulty. The authorities were yet to take a decision on the stipend, experience, posting and hostel facilities for the interns. The proposed internship was for fourth year B.Sc. nursing students who would complete their course by October. But the results of the third year examinations of these students were not yet published. The action council held talks with V. Geetha, Joint Director of Medical Education (DME). The authorities told them that the delay in issuing Government orders regarding internship was due to the lack of approval from the Finance section.
