Multiple taxation creating problems: Kakkar Need for infrastructure upgradation stressed India accounts for less than 1 per cent of global tourism industry
HYDERABAD:
Indian Travel Congress, the 55th convention and exhibition of the Travel Agents' Association of India (TAAI) beginning here on Friday, will focus on the need for a uniform goods and service tax (GST) structure across the country.
At a curtain raiser to the conference with the theme `The future is now,' TAAI president Ashwini Kakkar said on Thursday that the demand was significant coming from an industry that globally involved $ 5 trillion and given the enormous potential of travel and tourism in India. Multiple taxation was creating problems and the need for a GST was being felt, he said.
Other issues to figure at a convention are infrastructure upgradation keeping in mind the future and implementation of visa-on-arrival facility
