MANGALORE: The Lok Ayukta was taking due cognisance of all complaints of corruption in government offices formally brought to its notice under the Prevention of Corruption Act, Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar, in-charge Superintendent of Police (Lok Ayukta), Dakshina Kannada district, has said. The Lok Ayukta was investigating them earnestly, he added. Interacting with presspersons here on Thursday, Mr. Vidyasagar dispelled notions created in a section of the media about the local office of Lok Ayukta being insensitive to cases of corruption. He urged people to come forward and provide information about such cases. Stating that identity of persons who come forward to give a complaint would be kept secret, Mr. Vidyasagar pointed that it would be difficult to act against any official on the basis of anonymous complaint. On the slow pace of investigations of cases, Mr. Vidyasagar said the process was tedious. In many cases, the wealth was amassed in a "benami" form . In other cases it was shown as agricultural income. Sifting through the facts took time, he said.
