Disappearance of cash from bank locker alleged
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
A businessman on Thursday alleged that Rs. 5 lakhs of the Rs. 10 lakhs he kept in the locker of the Ranga Reddy Cooperative Urban Bank was stolen.
The complainant, D. Ramakrishna Reddy, told the Saroornagar police that he had put an amount of Rs. 10 lakhs in the locker of the bank at Kothapet fruit market on August 26. He maintained that half the amount was missing when he opened the locker on Thursday morning.
Saroornagar Inspector S. Rajashekhar Rao, who examined the lockers, said there were remote chances of outsiders stealing money. He, however, said that a probe was on to investigate into the possibility of someone opening the locker with a master or duplicate key. According to him, bank manager C. Alwal Reddy was not available for ascertaining facts.
