BANGALORE: A four-member gang struck at a former corporator's house in Banashankari police station limits on Thursday and made away with gold ornaments and some documents after threatening his sister-in-law with a knife. The police said the incident took place at the former Ganesh Mandir corporator Subramani, alias Mani's house on 24th A Main, Karesandra. While Mr. Mani and his wife were away from Bangalore, his sister-in-law Jamuna and her child were at home. Around 9.15 a.m., Ms. Jamuna answered the door. Four men asked her whether her husband Dharmaiah and Mr. Mani were at home. Assuming that her husband and brother-in-law knew them, she asked them to sit on a sofa. One of them locked the main door, and the others threatened Ms. Jamuna with a knife, the police said. When a shocked Ms. Jamuna fainted, they looted some documents and jewellery from a wardrobe in Mr. Mani's room. After regaining her consciousness, Ms. Jamuna called her neighbours. The Banashankari police have registered a case.
Man robbed
A van driver and his three accomplices robbed a private company employee, of Rs. 800 in cash, a gold chain, a ring and a wristwatch in HAL police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said that around 10.30 p.m., Hansaraj was waiting for a bus near Marathahalli bridge to reach his house in Old Banaswadi. Four men, who were travelling by a van, offered him a ride. After travelling some distance, they assaulted Mr. Hansaraj and robbed him. They pushed him out of the van near Mahadevapura bus stop and sped away.
Minor girl abused
A six-year-old girl was sexually abused by her neighbour in Sriramapuram police station limits on Wednesday evening. The police said Suresh (16) allegedly lured the girl with a chocolate, took her to a secluded place and sexually abused her. On a complaint by the girl's mother, the Sriramapuram police have arrested Suresh.
House burgled
Thieves made away with gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 50,000 from Santosh's house on 6th Cross, 6th Main, Kaggadasapura, in the early hours of Thursday. The police said that when Mr. Santosh and his family members were asleep, the thieves entered the house by opening the main door by putting their hands through an adjoining window.
