NEW DELHI: The "Punjab Rattan" award was conferred on celebrated writer-journalist Khushwant Singh by Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh at a function here on Thursday. The award, carrying a silver plaque and a citation, was in recognition of his outstanding and prolific writings in English. Addressing a galaxy of eminent personalities from different walks of life, Capt. "Sardar Khushwant Singh, who has become a legend and icon in his lifetime, is the sub-continent's most prolific writer. It is a humble effort on the part of the State Government to bestow this honour on this great son of India who has ruled over the hearts of millions of his readers across the globe through his unique style of writing," said Capt.
