Court rejects plea against Lalu
Legal Correspondent
Lalu Prasad
New Delhi:
The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed as withdrawn a petition filed by the Ashoka Hotel Majdoor Union seeking a probe into the expenditure incurred by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad for the marriage of his daughter on April 30 at the hotel here.
A Bench, comprising Justices K.G. Balakrishnan and D.K. Jain, told counsel for the petitioner, D.K. Garg, that "this is not a police station. If you have any grievance, lodge a complaint with the police." Counsel then sought permission to withdraw the petition. The union had sought an inquiry into the expenditure incurred for the marriage, alleging that about Rs. 21 lakh was paid in cash to the hotel.
