HYDERABAD: Md. Javed (eight for four) for Syndicate Bank and Md. Vasiuddin Ahmed (seven for seven) for CCOB produced impressive performances in the A-Division (two-day) league cricket championship matches here on Friday. Javed's spell helped Syndicate Bank skittle out Vimco for 26 while Vasiuddin's effort enabled CCOB bundle out Khalsa for 32. In another match, K.V. Srikanth (109 not out, 9x4) helped SA Sports, Amberpet, score 323 for three against PKMCC. The scores: A-Division (two-day) league: Khalsa 32 (Md. Vasiuddin Ahmed seven for seven) vs. CCOB 242 for seven (Yaseen 48, Salam Bayash 44, Hemanth Dillikar 50); Syndicate Bank 319 for five (Jyothi Shetty 90, Sunil Naidu 84, Sandeep 43, Jitender 57) vs. Vimco 26 (Mohd. Javed eight for four); PKMCC 89 (Anwar Khan five for 33) vs. SA Sports 323 for three (Vijay Goud 72, Vijay Karthik 50, Sai Raju 61 not out, K.V. Sreekant 109 not out). A-Institution league: FCI 145 (Srikanth 73) bt Indian Airlines 139 (Musharaf 51, Yasir four for 47, Ram Mohan four for 40).
Ramaraju advances
G. Ramaraju defeated K. Ramesh Babu 9-1 in the preliminary round of the Sunil Castings-JHIC inter-club tennis tournament here on Friday. The results: Singles: K.R. Raman bt P.V.S. Raju 9-4; V.V. Prasad bt Satish 9-7; Audisesha Reddy bt Sunil Saraf 9-3; H.M. Jain bt Yugandhar Reddy 9-2; Gangadhar bt Rajesh Reddy 9-4; Sateesh Kumar bt Balaji Verma 9-5. Deccan Blues held
Deccan Blues and Royal Club were involved in a 2-2 draw in the A-2 Division hockey league championship at the Begumpet Police Stadium here on Friday. Deccan Blues shot into the lead in the 39th minute thanks to Sharul Reddy. Soon, Abrar Ahmed make it 2-0. However, Royal Club fought back well to strike twice through Khalique and Deep Singh's solo effort to level the scores.
Easy win for KV (NPA)
Kendriya Vidyalaya (NPA) scored a 30-17 win over St. George's Grammar School in the inaugural match of the CCOB inter-schools basketball tournament at the City College on Friday. Manoj (12), Jijo and Vijay with six points each were the main scorers for the victor while, Mustafa and Abhishek with six points each fought well for the loser.
Chess selection trials
The AP Chess Association will organise selection trials on Sept. 9 and 10 at Brilliant Grammar School to pick the State team for the National women's `B' championship to be held in Chennai from Sept. 23 to 29. Entries close on Sept. 8. For details, contact 9391102940 or 9247399717.
Himalaya Cup cricket
