Principal manhandled
Basti (U.P.):
Four students of a post-graduate college here were arrested on Friday for allegedly intimidating and manhandling their principal.
The students from the Ambika Prasad Narain Post-Graduate College, including a candidate for the coming students' union elections, were arrested from the Amhat area on a complaint by principal Bhanu Pratap Singh that they manhandled him and fired in the air to intimidate him when he intervened to pacify rival groups. Two country-made pistols and some cartridges were seized from the students. The college, where the elections were slated for next week, had been closed for an indefinite period.
Police and PAC personnel were deployed on the campus as a precautionary measure, they added. — PTI
