ANANTAPUR: A five-member gang of dacoits raided a petrol pump and killed cashier Venkatramaiah (45) at Bugga village in Tadipatri mandal on Friday. The dacoits could take away only Rs. 118, as the cashier did not give them the key of the locker. According to the police, four youth and an aged person, all wearing masks, walked into the filling station and sprinkled chilli powder into the eyes of a worker and his friend, pushed them aside and entered the room where the cashier was sitting. They threatened him with knives to give the keys of the locker but Venkatramaiah told them that the keys were with the owner of the petrol bunk. They snatched Rs. 118 from the cashier and stabbed him. The cashier died on the spot and the dacoits fled. Venkatramaiah was a resident of Ragithotapalem area in Tadipatri. A police team led by Tadipatri DSP T. Nagabhushana Reddy visited the scene of the offence and a dog squad was pressed into service to trace the assailants.
