Special Correspondent

Cites work in Lok Satta as reason for quitting

HYDERABAD: National Coordinator of Lok Satta, Jayaprakash Narayan, has resigned from the National Advisory Council (NAC). In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday, he said the demands of his work after converting the Lok Satta into a political party had forced him to quit.

Seeking the help of the Congress, which had a vital stake in the future of the country and its polity, he hoped all major players in the political arena would play a crucial role in rejuvenating the people.

National goals

He said all parties should work together to build a clean, robust, mature, just and equitable polity.

He explained to Dr. Singh that the Lok Satta had generated a wide public debate in the State on the need for a new political culture.
