Sensex gains 79 points
MUMBAI:
Powered by late buying spree, the Sensex, bounced from the day's low and ended 79 points up at 11778.02 amid profit sales by traders.
The sensex recovered its initial losses and later rallied smartly to the intra-day high of 11795.02, before ending the day at 11778.02 from Thursday's close of 11699.05, a net rise of 79 points or 0.68 per cent. Initially, the sensex dipped to a low of 11666.01 due to profit sales by operators and retailers despite indications of increased foreign institutional investment activity. Similarly, the S&P CNX Nifty surged by 21.55 points or 0.63 per cent to 3435.45 from the previous close of 3,413.90. Mutual funds were believed to be heavy buyers in a number of frontline counters in the latter part of the session. . PTI
